Welcome to the 3rd OII Europe Community Event & Conference 2019

March 1, 2019 by Editorial

2nd OII Europe Community Event and Conference 2018

*** At the bottom of this page we have accessibility information, including for filling out the scholarship application form.***

At our third Community Event and Conference in Zagreb – Croatia, we will be hosted by TransAid who recently hired their first intersex staff member.

This year the theme of the community event will be advocacy. We will be focusing on three areas of advocacy, political advocacy, health-related advocacy, and personal advocacy.
While the area of political advocacy will primarily be focused on the needs of intersex activists, the fields of health-related advocacy and personal advocacy will be focused on the needs of our entire community. We will be running sessions in parallel with each other and will try to balance the program so that all community members can attend sessions that fit their needs for the entire community event.

This year’s event like the previous two community events consists of a one-day public conference and a two-day closed community event. This year arrivals will be on Wednesday the 25th of September and departures on Sunday the 29th of September.

The Public Conference will be organised by Trans-Aid and will focus on the physical and psychological health needs and the human rights of Intersex people within the health care system.

This year we will be offering several scholarships to intersex children under the age of 18. Each children´s scholarship will come with one guardian/parent scholarship. We will be offering separate spaces during the community event for parent´s to discuss their realities and experiences amongst each other. There will also be closed intersex only spaces during the program.

We look forward to seeing you in Zagreb in September 2019.

Note to researchers: In the past years, we have received multiple applications from endosex/dyadic (non-intersex) researchers for scholarships to attend OII Europe´s community event. Researchers will not receive scholarships from OII Europe. Researchers will not be allowed to attend the community event. Researchers will be allowed to attend the public event but at their own cost and they will have to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. Of course, if you are a researcher and also intersex you may apply for a scholarship but as a participant. Conducting research at the community event will not be permitted.
